We offer video endoscopy in certain small animal cases that require further diagnostic imaging. We have a 1 meter scope that allows us to perform gastroscopy (esophagus and stomach) and colonoscopy if needed. This does need to be performed under full anesthesia with food being withheld a day in advance. We are unfortunately limited to the size of the scope for some of our smaller patients.
Gastroscopy
This procedure could be performed for some foreign body removal, examination of the upper GI tract and biopsies can be taken if needed. Chronic vomiting cases and abnormal areas on x-ray of the stomach can be evaluated further with gastroscopy.
Colonoscopy
This procedure can be performed mainly for biopsies of the colon in chronic diarrhea cases. Fluid enemas have to be performed prior to the procedure.
